Both of our guides are trained mountain bike instructors and leaders, holders of the MIAS Level 2 qualification, and are qualified first aiders as well as being experts at those unfortunate on-the-spot repairs in the wilderness! So let's meet them…
A couple of keen beginners endeavour to look interested in Steve's tales from the trail
Technically accomplished and knowing no fear, Bill can usually be found bombing around the woods in his native Newcastle. From Whistler, Canada to Washington, Tyne and Wear, he's ridden (or at least talked about riding) them all!
Matt can often be found grinding around his local off-road trails in Rivington, Lancashire. Being surprisingly non-hirsute means that, unlike many cyclists, he has no need to shave his legs therefore saving valuable minutes in the morning.
So what is MIAS?
MIAS is the Mountain Bike Instructor Award Scheme. MIAS accreditation is from the Awarding Body Consortium ( Reading University). The course has national accreditation and is recognised by:
- The Association of British Cycle Coaches (A.B.C.C.)
- Cyclist's Touring Club (C.T.C.)
- Adventure Activities Licensing Authority (A.A.L.A).
